Winter Break

Christmas is just around the corner and I still can´t really believe it. Time went by so incredibly fast and every day was packed with so many things that I didn´t even notice that christmas was only...well 4 days away! Thank god that today was my first day of christmas break and I got the chance to do all the necessary shopping. Altghough it was pretty cold and grey in Berlin today I wanted to wear something colorful and eyecatching, which made me opt for this purple coat combined with a bit of leather, and took a couple of pictures during my shopping spree.
I hope you enjoy them and if I don´t get the chance to post something again before christmas, I wish every one of you a Merry Christmas!! Enjoy the time with your family and take time to relax a bit before starting into the new year.

Advent Coffee

Since it is christmas time, I thought it might be the right moment for another food post.
Tons of home made cookies and cake, that´s what our annual christmas party looks like. Not to forget the punch that warmed everyone nicely from the inside and all the wonderful guests from near and far.
Thank you everyone for coming and making this day a very special one for the 19th time!
And to all of the others...enjoy the pictures and treat yourself to a little christmas snack.

Keeping warm in Winter

At this point I would like to recommend all of you that have something against fur not to continue reading this blog entry. You will probably not like what you see...trust me.
In my opinion, fur is one of the best ways to stay warm in winter and since (as some of you might already know) I was born in Latvia, I think I know what I am talking about. The only thing that would keep people warm during the winter season with an average temperature of -20 degrees during the day was, you guessed it, a long fur coat. Of course many people just use fur as a nice fashionable piece of clothing which they like to show off during winter, but for me, more or less, it is just the best way to stay warm and cozy (especially because I tend to freeze super easily).
I hope that all of you who chose to look at the pictures enjoy them!

3000!

3000 klicks!! I can´t believe it! I would like to thank all of you for your support and hope that you enjoy reading my blog as much as I love working on it. I started it a little more then a year ago and never would have believed that I would have readers from all over the world in only a little more then 12 months.
But now back to the stuff which this blog is all about...fashion. It has become quite cold in Berlin over the last few weeks, and yes, a tiny christmas feeling is starting to develop itself, also due to the Wintermarket which already opened at the Potsdamer Platz one week ago...crazy, I know. For these pictures I once again chose to combine an oversize pants (with an exciting print) with an oversize jacket, which have become my fall favorites this season.
Enjoy your weekend and hopefully also the pictures!

Comme il faut

Once again it is time for a post about tango.
Yesterday I bought the most expensive pair of shoes which I ever bought until now...a pair of "Comme il faut" (also known as the Louboutins under the tango shoes). To most of you, they probably don´t look like much and many of you might not be willing to pay so much for a pair of dancing shoes, but let me explain.
Do you know the feeling when you try on a shoe for the first time and you know right away that it is perfect in every way? Well that is exactly how I felt yesterday. I slipped into the shoe and felt like I was wearing the most comfortable slipper in the world. The leather is super soft and you can really feel the difference between a "normal" pair of dancing shoes and these hand crafted ones which come all the way from Buenos Aires.
Of course the first thing I had to do after buying them was to go dancing the same evening in one of my favorite places called the "Tangoloft". The shoes are definately worth the money!

New Size Oversize

New York, Milan, Paris or London, the oversize trend can be seen all around the world.
I especially fell in love with the oversized coats and thanks to a very talented mother, I am now able to call a very unique model my own. In order to make the look not too bulky, I chose to combine the coat with a pair of skinny black pants and black booties with a small heel.
Enjoy the lovely sunny monday!

The Vintage Hat

It´s October and already quiet cold in Berlin.
Although the sun has been shining the last couple of days there is an icy wind blowing through the city, which always makes me want to cover my head with some kind of hat. So you can  imagine how happy I was to find this beautiful navy blue vintage hat at the Mauerpark last sunday. I chose to combine it with a black military style jacket from H&M and a pair of pants and leather biker boots from Zara.
How do you like the look?

Vogue Fashion´s Night Out

One of the bigger fashion events in Berlin is the Vogue Fashion´s Night Out. This year I was invited to a party from a berliner designer called "Marcell von Berlin".
Apart from serving delicious currywurst and cocktails there was good music and friendly people. Not to forget that I got a chance to look into his concept store whos interior is very modern and chic. I completely fell in love with a couple of evening dresses, so there definately is a reason for me to return in the near future.

Montpellier at night

Before being able to post about the Vogue Fashion Night Out tomorrow, I wanted to share some of the last pictures which I took during my vacation in the city of Montpellier.
Montpellier is already pretty impressive during the day, with all it´s monuments, historic buildings and it´s huge university, but in the evening the city has a very special flair.

Back in town

I can´t believe that my vacation is already over, but time really seems to fly. To give you another little impression of some of my activities here in France, apart from tanning at the beach, I decided to take a few pictures with this beautiful old bike which we found in our garage the other day and which I love to ride along the canal.
Since I wanted a color that contrasts the yellow of the bike I wore one of my favorite neon pink summer dresses which I combined with simple sandals and a pair of sunnies.
And please also appreciate the older gentleman who was so happy to take a picture with me J

FoodFoodFood

Is there anything better than good food and a nice glace of wine?  In southern France many people would probably answer this question with “no”, or at least with “not much”.  This question gave me the idea to share two of my favorite stores with you.
The first one as you might be able to see from the pictures is a store in which one can buy all kinds of olive oil and vinegar. Already the smell which comes out of this store is so delicious, that I can never pass it without having a look inside and buying at least one thing in the end.
The second store “La Cure Gourmande” is probably a paradise for everyone who loves sweets (including me). You can buy a million different kinds of cookies, caramel and my absolute favorite…chocolate olives, which of course are not real olives, but a dark chocolate egg with a nut inside and covered with a green or black food color so that it looks like an olive in the end.

Both of these shops are not the cheapest, but hey! I´m on vacation…right?

Vacation

Salut!
The first thing that I should say for my defense probably is, that I have not forgotten you guys. I have been on vacation in southern France for four weeks without an internet access and therefore I did not have the chance to share any of the pictures which I was able to take with you.
Since we have our family house in a small village which is located right next to the Canal du Midi I decided to take my first vacation pictures there.
As it was super warm that day I wanted to wear as little as possible which brought me to opt for my new Zara shorts and, in my opinion, a beautiful knitted summer top in a brilliant white.
Stay tuned for more posts!

Enjoy

Tango Argentino

You guys all probably remember from older posts that I started to dance Tango Argentino about 3 months ago...well it´s summer in Berlin and there is seriously nothing nicer then having the opportunity to dance open air at the Strandbar Nr.1 in Mitte. The music is great (always a mix of original tango and nuevo tango) and the whole atmosphere is just incredible. I can only advise any of you who are able to dance to go there at some point.
I´ve actually become such a tango junkie lately that I have sort of neglected everything else, including my blog, and I am very sorry about that.
Here are a few impressions of my tango argentino experiences...enjoy!

My Fashion Week Outfits

In my opinion one of the funnest things you get to do during fashion week is to choose exciting outfits which you might not wear on a "normal" day where you have to go to university or just take a quick walk through the city. No, lets just say how it is: Fashion week is all about "being seen" and hoping that as many people as possible take pictures of you, so that you might have the chance to find youself in a few magazines later on.
For the choice of my outfits I tried to stay true to myself, meaning that I really chose pieces which I also like to wear on any kind of day (ok, maybe not in these combinations, but I think that you guys all know what I am trying to get at). I tried to choose fun and colorful outfits which are not only exciting to look at, but also comfortable to wear.
Here a quick overview...enjoy!

IstanbulNext

The last day of the Berlin Fashion Week has come to an end and with it four wonderful days full of interesting encounters, amazing shows and exciting parties.
The last three collections which I saw today were all created by young turkish designers (Ece Gözen, Nazli Bozdag and Nevra Karaca No.7). I have to say that until then I had never heard of a big turkish lable and had never seen a show by a turkish designer, so I was very interested to see what they would be like.
The designs ranged from sporty but feminine and chic pieces all the way to leather coats with an asian touch.
In the end my expectations were definitely fulfilled and I am already looking forward to the next show by a turkish designer.

Fashion Week Day 4

And also on the last day of the Berlin Fashion Week I would like to share a few street-style outfits with you.

Dawid Tomaszewski Show

Today Dawid Tomaszewski enchanted the audience with his feminine, elfish creations and extravagant braided hair-dos. Also not forgetting the ever present sunglasses which gave every outfit a mystical air.
What a great show!

DfT hosted by Stella Mc Cartney

Today I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Designer for Tomorrow Award 2013 which was hosted by Stella Mc Cartney! The objective of this award is to honor new, young and talented designers and the winner receives his or her own fashion show at the next Mercedes-Benz Fahion Week along with a couple of other things. This year the five finalists came from Germany, the UK, Rumania and Taiwan.
In the end the winner turned out to be Ioana Ciolacu Miron from Rumania with her collection "Paradox".
The collection was based on opposits/contrasts, such as "feminine but strong", and included alot of fluent and transparent fabrics,  which did not only end up convincing the jury but also the audience. Congratulations Ioana!
Oh and by the way, I am very sorry that I did not get a chance to take a better picture of Stella Mc Cartney, but at least you can still see her from the side...
